What do you know about Second City?  Can I pick your brain on a few things?  Trying to plan a weekend trip...

Thanks!

Re: *MWC*

  • Not too much, I've only been twice and the last time was quite a while back. But I can try to help. :)

  • Are you going to be staying in Old Town, or more downtown?

I  think a lot of the restaurants in Old Town are good but not great, which is probably not very helpful, lol. Adobo Grill is right in the same building as SC and they make pretty good Mexican food, and great tableside guac. Dinotto is sort of the classic Italian restaurant, across the street, and is also pretty good. A lot of people seem to like Bistro Margo, but I thought it was just okay.

If you want to take a short cab ride or a longer walk (maybe a mile-ish), one of my favorite restaurants in the city, MK is straight down Welles St. It's pricey, though. Similarly, if you don't mind going about a mile-ish west, there are tons of restaurants in that area, a lot of the heavy hitters like Grant Achatz's Alinea, and Boka - where we went for my birthday (awesome).

I haven't been, but there's a restaurant just north of SC called Perennial Virant that I've really been wanting to try.

The Spice House is a really awesome store in Old Town so if you have time, definitely check it out. They're also right by Old Town Oil which has...oils. ;) Twisted Baker is a good bakery, too.

    When are you coming?
