Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis

I love Jeff Lewis designs.  Totally my style - wish I could afford him and his craziness.  I finally caught an episode of his new show (The Steinbecks) and was soooo bummed!  The walls stayed white and the gray chair rail was so blah.

The redeeming factor was the shower, woah!  That marble herringbone is to die for.

I also really liked the headboard and the wall paper, but the wall paper was isolated to that small section and mostly covered.

It won't let me PIP so here is the before and after.

Do you watch this show?  Do you like Jeff Lewis designs?  He is surprisingly low key on this show compared to Flipping Out.

Re: Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis

  • We caught most but not all of the episode. I didn't think he was terribly different than he is on Flipping Out- he just isn't ripping into his staff as much. The design, eh I thought it was boring. Meaning, I could have done that- the design not necessarily the execution which he didn't entirely do either. I was actually surprised he didnt fire the contractor- but not having seen the beginning of the show, and knowing that they had a tight timeline, I assume that's why he let him stay.

I do notice that when he has to work for a customer I don't get the sense of OMG it's ahh-maze-ing, like I do when it's his unfettered design. I'm guessing having to work with client tastes and preferences puts a damper on things. I didn't see it so I don't know if these clients were like that, but I've seen episodes where past clients insist upon adding or changing design elements that clearly compromise the whole. I don't get it though. I just want to tell them, "You can afford Jeff Lewis! Get out of his way!" lol

I definitely liked his work a lot more when he was flipping houses and designing everything himself.  That said, I'm sure the tastes of the homeowners get in the way of what he wants to do.  If I could afford him I'd let him run wild and do whatever he wants.

  • I totally agree but he only had 5 days.  5 DAYS!  For a master bathroom and bedroom that is a lot.  Man just give him and the contractors some time to do it right.  Stop trying to make this bath crashers/home crashers/insert any other rushed HGTV home make over show here!

On a side note that wife was crazy!!  She wouldn't let her husband have a say in anything and then she was getting pissed at every little thing that went wrong...it wouldn't have been such a problem if you gave them time to do their work properly lady!  I'm glad that Jeff stood up for the husband and let him get a few things his way.  It seemed like a real revelation for the husband.

  • Hm I never thought if that.  If I hired him I'd be smart enough to let him do whatever he wants - his personal taste is great.

That lady was a B.  I think she said it was in their wedding vows that she got 100% say in the home design.

  • I will watch every episode.  I love Jeff Lewis, his staff & his style!  That said, he had five days and an awful homeowner.  I think he did a great job in keeping within the homeowner's comfort level and the rest of the house designs.  That shower & headboard rocked!  I feel sorry for the husband, his wife was a major B, plus...and I know this is mean....I think she looked like Skeletor. Stick out tongue
  • I thought JL was low-key too....I was surprised that since he suck a neat freak/control freak that he would stay in someone else's house without everything being just so.

The wife was awful. I got a major gay vibe from the husband. That's probably why he married an uptight perfectionist who doesn't want/like sex.
