Snake Question

DH and I just got a ball python last week and last night was the first night we needed to feed him.  Everything that I've read says to feed them frozen mice to reduce the risk of the snake being injured and to reduce the spread of mites and other insects.  The store that we got him from though feeds their snakes live mice.  I don't know how to tell how old he is but he is roughly 18" long and not too old but that means he has been on live mice for a while.  Needless to say he didn't eat the mouse last night.  We thawed it and warmed it under the heat lamp but he just wasn't interested.  DH thinks he couldn't find it since it wasn't alive or warm enough for what he is used to.  Anyone have any suggestions on how to get him to eat or do we need to stick with live mice since that is what he is used to?

I guess I'm going to try to feed him another one tomorrow night.  I'm wondering too if it is also that he is in a new home and just stressed about that so that could be another reason he didn't eat?  Any suggestions would be great!
