Cricut help-paper ripping

Hi ladies, I posted this on crafts but nobody is responding. Hopefully one of you can maybe help. I received the cricut expression 2 for Christmas and haven't used it much becuase the paper always rips when I try to peel it off the sticky cutting mat. I have the little spatula tool, but that doesn't seem to help much. I'm using regular scrapbooking paper... is there something I'm missing, a trick, or another tool I need? I really want to make things but it's frustrating to try to get the paper (cut or the left over after a cut) off the mat. Help please! Thanks!

Re: Cricut help-paper ripping

  • I had this problem when my mat was too sticky.  I rubbed it on my jeans a couple times to make it not as tacky and that seems to work!

  • I was thinking about doing something like that but didn't know if that would cause an issue or not. I will try that though, thanks for the feedback!

  • I agree with PP, you need to reduce the stickiness of the glue that is on the mat.  Cleaning all the scraps off the mat after getting my shapes off is always the worst part about using the cricut for me!
  • I stick mine to a clean t-shirt a few times to reduce the stickyness, also, the thicker the paper you use the easier to remove, so try using heavy cardstock the first few times.
