CPoll- Which roof color? And should sidelights match door?[PIP heavy]

We are doing some exterior updating (for now shutters, roof and door).  I think we are going to go with black shutters and we narrowed down our roof color to slate (1st and 3rd pics below) & charcoal (2nd and 4th pics below).  Which roof do you like better?

Also, we are thinking of going with a fiberglass door in a mahogany finish.  We will also be replacing the sidelights.  Do you think the sidelights should match the door (mahogany), or be white like the trim?

Thanks for the thoughts/advice!

I voted for charcoal and non-matching.  I'm not sure why you would want your sidelights to match your door - it makes it look like they open or you have a super wide door, and I've never seen that before.

  • Wow, Charcoal by a landslide.  I would love to know why you chose the one you did.

We live in Pa, do you think the darker roof will make it a lot hotter upstairs in the summer?  Anyone have this color shingle?

Thanks for the thoughts!  I have seen sidelights in our area both ways so I'm not sure which way to go and I appreciate opinions.
