Q about door frames/trim

We are having new laminate floors and new baseboards installed soon. We are trying to decide if we should put new trim around the doors as well. The one issue is we have a large closet in the kitchen (for W&D) that we can't change the trim on due to the way the corner is.

Do you think we should replace the trim around the doors? It would be the three bedrooms, inside and out, and  outside two bathrooms and three closets. The current trim is the skinny stuff that seems to be standard builder's grade.

Re: Q about door frames/trim

  • If it's in your budget and something you can handle, totally do it!

I just replaced the flooring in our hallway upstairs and planned the whole time on replacing the old, destroyed/carpet stuck to it/horribly painted infinity times baseboards, but once I held the new stuff up against the old door trim? Nope, it had to go too. I ended up using plinth blocks and rosettes too, just for a little interest in an otherwise extremely boring little space, and the fresh new trim makes me so happy!
