Capitol Hill Classic 10K - anyone run it?
We'll be in DC that weekend (May 20) and I'm looking for a 10K to train for.
Anyone BTDT? thoughts? Thanks!
2012 Races:
Mar 24: Great Human Race 5K. April 28: 5K for Fitness
Re: Capitol Hill Classic 10K - anyone run it?
Will do! Right now, it depends on how I feel about the training plan and on if DH is ok with me taking a morning of our family trip to go out and run a race. There's also a smaller 5K that runs right by the door of where we're staying. That might end up being the more family-friendly option.
And I hope your trip to the ortho goes well!
I've run it the past two years and will run it this year. I enjoy it. it's well organized. not as chaotic as some of the other DC events. benefits the capitol hill cluster schools. a lot of the volunteers are kids from the cluster schools. it's cute. it's a nice 'little' neighborhood race.
they changed the course this year so it no longer includes running up capitol hill at mile 5, and thus, it's a fairly flat course.
but I'm not sure if you can take the metro to the start. it might start too early. metro opens at 7AM on Sundays. check the travel times from wherever you are staying @ the wmata website. also, if there's track work scheduled that weekend (spoiler: there probably is).
I plan to run it this year. I missed it last year due to my knee, but I'm hoping this year I'll be game for it!
