Suggest your litter system, please

We've got a 1 year old cat that we've rescued from an animal shelter about 3 months ago.  We love her but the old fashioned litter box is driving DH and I crazy.  She really can't help that she tracks the litter everywhere, but there are other downsides we aren't too happy about.  We use the Tidy Cat's kind of litter which prevents a bad odor but it is so small that it ends up allover the floor when she tries to cover her mess.  And clean her little business is such a pain.  We really need suggestions here, please.  Anything under $100 would be great.

  • You could try the clever cat box.  We have one as well as 2 uncovered litter boxes.  Try using a good clumping litter, as well.  We had good luck with Arm & Hammer, though we use something else now.

  • I love the Breeze litterbox system. It has pee pads underneath the litter that do a great job of absorbing the urine, I never smell it even with two cats (except right after they poo). The litter is too big and heavy for them to track, and they can't kick it very far either. Some cats won't like this type of litter though.

The refills are more expensive than normal litter. We scoop out the poop daily and change the pad weekly. We go through one 4-pack of pads per month and replace the litter every ~1.5 months with 2 cats using it.
