Indecisive on paint & colors

We are going to be buiding our next home as soon as our current one sells. We meet with the builder on Tuesday to get the specs figured out. I thought I wanted to do a white kitchen with dark counters, stainless steel and brushed nickel fixtures (lights, knobs, hinges, faucets, etc.) throughout the house. However, now that I've been looking I have found some darker kitchens I like with lighter counters and oil rubbed bronze fixtures. Square footage on the main level is 1500 sq. ft. The kitchen, dining and living rooms are open to each other. I want to keep it it is warm and inviting. We are going to do a dark wood in the dining room, frizae carpet in the living and bedrooms. White trim, I think. I am just rambling now, but any suggestions? If it matters, there is one window in the kitchen above the sink but sliders in the dining room. There is also an island. I think once I get my kitchen narrowed down, the rest of the house will come together. I've thought about gray, but I want it to feel warm.
