A Vent and Some Info for You Guys
First, the info. It's been decided that insurance companies must provide free voluntary sterilization to college age women, whether it is a student health plan or not.

Now for the vent. My SIL started touching my belly, and even laying her head on my belly, long before it was much more than chub and bloat. I told her it made me uncomfortable, and she basically told me she was going to do it anyway. And yesterday, when I saw her, she came and made a big deal about touching it and almost yelling at it. I was not kind to her, at all. Who freakin does that?

Re: A Vent and Some Info for You Guys
So do they mean free BCP, or actually offering procedures like tube tying and the like? Because if it's the latter, holy crap that is so unfair. I can't find a single doc here who will do the procedure for me because "you're young and will change your mind when you're older." But college-age is a-ok?
And the belly touching would piss me off. I hate being touched, and having someone tell me they are going to do it anyway would not end up pretty.
To me, it sounds like actual tube tying and such. But I'm not sure.
I agree to Ses, if its available to women my age, it should be available to women of any age.
And I always ask if I can touch a pregnant woman's belly. If they say yes, or say OMG FEEL! I touch. If they say no, I don't think twice about it. Your SIL sounds rude.
An inconsiderate biotch.
You can't go around rubbing up on people. Whether they're pregnant or not, you should respect a person's boundaries. Especially if they are pregnant though.
Well. Clearly I need to go back to school. I'm not that far past "college aged."
As long as you don't know freakos, you should be fine. Several people have done it to me, and I hate it. But, I posted on FB that I hate it, and most people don't do it now. A girl this weekend actually reached out, then pulled her hand back. My SIL has no social skills. She also held my chihuahua down for my MIL's German Shepherds to look at (and almost eat) even though I made a big deal about how I left him in the car so it wouldn't be an issue.
I think I'm freaked out because a friend of mine (gave birth in Dec.) was buying Thanksgiving food and someone in line at the grocery store was all up in her belly and she couldn't escape.
Same here, I end up usually poking at it... I think it's awkward on both ends.
On the whole "college-age" I think it's just implying that since they don't usually even consider women at that age to get sterilization. That being said, I know college students of all ages so I'm thinking this is more for every woman than just an age range. I could be completely wrong though.
This is when you just have to be downright rude. I'm not confrontational, but it's literally the only way to get out of this horrible situation. It is every bit as bad and intrusive as laying your hand on someone's ass that you don't know. I just blame my rudeness on hormones and go on about my day.
I was wondering if they just stressed "college-age" to be certain they were included. It doesn't seem like you can only require it for certain ages, that seems discriminatory.
I slapped hands. A lot of hands.
My reflexes got to ninja-esk levels of impressive.
I don't understand the whole "people who DON'T know you molesting your belly when you are pregnant. I can understand parents and friends and sibling When they ask and IF it is ok with that person. I am terrified of all the belly touchers at H's family events when and if I ever get prego. .
