Pregnancy lifting question

Of course, after my horrible first tri nausea ended, I got back to CrossFit for a week or two and promptly got sick again with terrible allergies last week.  So I had to take another week off.  I finally got back again this morning, and oof...I feel so out of shape!

Anyway, my question.  Today's WOD involved power snatches.  I did mine at 42#.  The weight didn't feel too heavy--I cranked out 9 sets of 12 without feeling like my muscles were fatigued.  The only issue I had was that I noticed some quick twinging/pulling/cramping in my stomach as I was using my core to complete the lift, kind of like round ligament pain.

Normal?  Does this mean I should dial the weight back further?

Re: Pregnancy lifting question

  • I have been wondering this, too.  I don't do CF, though.  I stopped doing free weights to some extent and started using machines again so I have more control (my balance has suffered!).  When I do certain leg exercises, I notice that I use my core - possibly too much?  I usually lower the poundage and it goes away, but then I don't feel like I'm getting as much of a workout.

It's annoying to try and get into a routine again, isn't it?  Something always seems to come up that throws a wrench into everything I do, ha.

  • I don't CF, but I lifted up until delivery. When my stomach felt that way, my trainer always scaled it back. It is a bummer when you are making progress to step back, but definitely better safe than sorry.
