My green monster breakfast smoothies are 370 cals...would you change anything?
I feel like 370 cals is a lot for breakfast and it is making it hard to stay around 1500 for the day. Here is my recipe. What would you change?
Fage 0% yogurt 65 (1/2 cup)
Flax oil 110 (1 tbsp)
Almond Breeze 40 (1 cup)
Flax seed 40 (1 tbsp)
1/2 banana 50
1/3 c mango 30
Spinach (2 cups)
1 scoop protein powder 100

1500 calories per day is pretty darn light! Are you tiny? Are you fairly inactive all day? I think you would have to be both for 1500 to be enough for a daily average. Your smoothie sounds healthful and delicious. I wouldn't change a thing! Maybe add some calories to your diet plan?
(As an aside, because I am ignorant about flax, is there a big nutrition difference between the seeds and the oil?)
If I eat less than 400 calories for breakfast, I'm hungry all day. Are you currently having problems with being hungry at 1500 calories?
Personally, I'd ditch the protein powder and use full fat yogurt instead.
I typically eat 200 or less for breakfasts (I'm at 1480 cals per day for weight loss)
If I know I'm working out that day and will have extra calories, I'll eat a smoothie similar to yours - otherwise I just use spinach, ice/water, banana, and mango/other frozen fruit. It tastes just as good/filling and is low in calories if you're worried about that aspect. But - in the future when I up my calories for maintenance instead of loss - your smoothie sounds delicious!
Yes,I'm smiling...I'm a marathoner!
