Seche Vite. Finally tried it and

I don't love it. Yes it dried my nails super fast, but it's a terrible top coat and my polish chips super easy. I tried two different brands too.

I'm wondering if I can put a top coat on before I put the Seche Vite on, or after?

I have tried Essie, Zoya, Opi for Sephora, Essence, and Piggy Polish underneath the Seche Vite and the one that chips the soonest for me is the Opi for Sephora (but I can still go at least 5 days before the first chip).

I also wanted to add that it could be your base coat leading to the chips, too. Zoya Anchor is the best base coat that i've ever used (and I feel like the old Sally Hansen base coat that I used before did chip sooner). Another tip is to buff your nails before polishing as well.

Yes, I tried it two different times with two different polish brands. The OPI did last a bit longer and I actually tried two different base coats.

I will try buffing and see if that helps. Thanks.

Its worked great at preventing chipping for me, but I can't get over the shrinkage factor.

Seche doesn't work for me - makes the polish fall off the nail (like - not just chipping, the polish falls off my nail in one big chunk). And the smell is awful.

I like Poshe a bit better - I don't have the problems I have with Seche. But overall - I think both top coats (Poshe and Seche) are really thick and goopy and I don't like the look. I'm going to switch over to drying drops after this bottle of poshe runs out.

I bought a random brand I'd never heard of at rite aid - Out the door - or something like that. It says 10 minutes to completely dry and I love it. No shrinking, and my nails are always very shiny and last 5 or more days.

I freaking love it. I would never eve paint my nails if I didn't use it. With my current "regimen" my nail polish basically doesn't chip. I have to take it off when my nails start to grow out at tg bottom. I use Orly top to bottom for my base, then either Essie or OPI (two coats), then Essie no chips ahead, then seche. The one time ididnt use a top coat first, had big flake chip issues.

Thoughts

Seche V is meant to be used on WET polish, if you allow the polish to set before applying the top coat it does not bond with and seal the polish correctly.

Are you applying a thick enough coat of SV?  It goes on very thick and it takes awhile to get used to applying such a thick coat.

OPI is not meant to be used on natural nails.

I like Seche Vite for the shine and how it dries the polish--but I've found that to get the most days out of my polish I need to put a good topcoat on (I like Essie) top of the seche.
