Obama, Edwards Speechwriter Switches To McCain
Another Daily Beast switch/endorsement. Just an interesting since it is usually posted the other way. It is long, so I will just link it and post the first paragraph:

Since I started writing speeches more than ten years ago, I have always believed in the Democratic Party. Not anymore. Not after the election of 2008. This transformation has been swift and complete and since I?m a woman writing in the election of 2008, ?very emotional.?
Re: Obama, Edwards Speechwriter Switches To McCain
Meant to add this from where I first found it:

When we first met, Obama and I had a nice conversation about speeches and writing, and at the end of the meeting I handed him a pocket-sized bottle of Grey Poupon mustard so he wouldn?t have to ask staff if it was okay to put it on his hamburger. At the bottom of the bottle was the logo for ?The South Beach Diet? and he snapped, ?Oh so you read People magazine.? He seemed to think that I was commenting on his bathing suit picture.
I'm not done reading this but, whaaaa? Why did she hand him Grey Poupon? Isn't that insulting?
To be honest, I found her article to be a bit rambling. I don't question her talents as a writer, but she seems more, well, mad than anything here. I realize this puts me at risk for labeling her "emotional," but on the issues I don't get the sense that she is truly behind McCain's policies. She sounds lukewarm on "trying something new" economically (i.e. not raising taxes but not supporting trickle down economics), and thinks McCain is a pretty good guy and strong on the military.
But it doesn't sound like she is fundamentally in support of the repub party, but more angry at the election. And if she is upset that the dems aren't dealing enough with issues of poverty, how does she back the repubs, who haven't even mentioned the word?
I dunno - it's not to say that she or anyone else *shouldn't* vote for McCain, but I've read a lot more reasoned and articulate arguments for doing so - especially here.

I explained my feelings here: http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/5020141.aspx (sorry, computer is wonky, can't make link)
She's frustrated with the Dems on a few issues, but it seems that on all of those issues, the Repubs are worse. Weird.
