Any NJ ladies here...planting ?

I am just curious when you guys r going to do your planting?  It is geting nicer but worried that we might get a couple more cold days.  I have some seeds i need to plant but i have to wait until after the last frost.  When do you think it will be safe?

Thanks

Re: Any NJ ladies here...planting ?

  • It's been so nice there's almost an expectation that it's going to stay this way.  That said, I planted pansies this weekend but they are cold tolerant so I am ok.  I'd be afraid to plant anything more for at least the next 4 weeks.  I'm half expecting a freak snowstorm on Easter like we had on Halloween!

Also, I guess it depends on where you are in NJ as the northwest can be quite different than the shore or south.

  • I've started some seeds inside and plan to move them outside once I am sure we aren't going to get a frost. It doesn't seem like it will get too cold with as mild of a winter we have been having and it is warming up so fast.

  • Hi! I actually have the same exact question as you... this mild weather has me ITCHING to get outside, but my better judgement keeps telling me just wait it out at least a few more weeks. I feel like once April hits though the gloves are comin' off!!! Well, I guess they're probably going on actually....
  • I took a risk and planted my peas this weekend. I'm in NNJ.

Also, my mint, oregano & majoram are coming up now.

  • I started my indoor stuff last weekend and am planning to put in my carrots and lettuce mid-April.
