Lucy the Corgi Wonder Mutt is shedding a ton. I vacuum every day, but her hair is still getting all over the place. We just had her groomed and I have been brushing her twice a day. Tonight, a hair got into one my my DS's eyes, and he went to bed with this huge allergic reaction, so I am obviously not getting all the hair up (Lucy had been on his bed beforehand, so we'll try to keep her off now, she sneaks back to the boys room and enjoys the bottom bunk-stinker.) Any other ideas? Is this mass hair dropping going to be the norm for us, or is it like the twice yearly mass shed that my mom's dog does? Our last dog was a poodle, so I am out of practice with the shedding. Any tips are appreciated!

Re: Shedding help
Oh, shedding. I have a love/ hate relationship with my dogs long hair. I sometimes find that a really good bath followed by a lot of brushing seems to help more than just brushing alone. Can you brush outside? I also designate "brushing clothes" (pants and a t) so I don't get all of my clothing covered in hair. I also use 4 different brushes in rotation- furminator (for one dog only, it causes static on the other), a pin brush, an undercoat rake and a rubber kong brush. I find that using some combination of them helps more than any one type of brush.
I also feel like this crazy weather (hot/cold/hot/storm) has totally messed up their schedule as far as blowing their coats twice a year. They seem to just be steadily shedding this year, but no massive drops. Admittedly, they shed a least a little all the time.
Can you put a baby gate up at DS's door to keep Lucy out?
What are you feeding Lucy? Possibly changing her food could help with some shedding.
What type of food are you feeding? A high quality food can help to limit shedding. Supplementing with salmon oil can also help with shedding and generally help maintain a healthy coat and skin. I also recommend the Furminator as a great tool. That being said, I employ all three of these tactics (high quality food, salmon oil, and Furminator), and my pugs still shed a lot, one more than the other, so while you can't eliminate the shedding, you can limit it. GL!
ETA: Just saw you are feeding Wellness Puppy. That is a great food, but I'm not sure it's grain-free, so you might consider switching to a grain free food (Wellness has its CORE line, which is grain-free, and there are lots of other brands as well) to see if it cuts down on the shedding.
As a fellow corgi mom--the furminator is a must! We use it weekly, more this time of year. It helps SO much. And use it outside if possible. There are two benefits-- 1, the clouds of fur aren't in your house and 2. birds can build nests from it
Hope that helps!
