Need sewing machine recommendations

Hello!  I'm embarking on a new adventure (quiliting) and need sewing machine recommendations.  I don't want to spend more than $250 and ideallly less than $200.  What brand or specific machine would you recommend I start with?  I really want something simple and easy to use.

I don't know a thing about sewing but want to learn. My mom used to sew so she knows some but hasn't kept up with the latest machines. Yesterday, she poured over Consumer Reports and Amazon and bought this for me:

No idea if it's good or not but she said she researched for a few hours before deciding on that one.

I have a kenmore I really like. It even tells you how to thread it with numbers.
