ISO brown derby cake recipe
I've searched high and low for a brown derby cake recipe from my childhood. It's essentially a chocolate domed cake with a whipped cream/fruit filling.
Does anybody have a recipe?
TIA!
Re: ISO brown derby cake recipe
I was curious so I started googling...almost all of the recipes were copycats of a grapefruit derby cake they apparently make at Disney. Which I didn't get the impression was the same as an authentic brown derby cake. This one sounds like a re-creation based on the bloggers mom's memory of the cake, but it also sounds like a southern/Kentucky thing so if this isn't authentic enough I wonder if you perused some Southern cookbooks or something. But this might be a start:

I did lots of variations of my search on Google, and most of the results were either the Disney cake or a grapefruit cake made by a bakery called the Brown Derby.
Yes, I saw the recipe on Small Town Oven but that one didn't appeal to me for some reason.
I did email the bakery in NJ where we used to frequent to see if they would be willing to share their recipe. I also found a video that might work, and if I end up making it, I will post it on the blog!
