NDR: Anyone else hating their hair lately?

I've had the same hairstyle for a few years now and I'm sick of it, but I don't know what to do with it.  It's grown out a bit and is almost shoulder length.  I kind of want to grow it out, but I know if I do it'll end up in a ponytail or messy bun or something everyday.  I do however hate having to do something with my hair every.single.day, even on lazy weekends because it's too short to put in a ponytail.  Ugh.  Part of me wants to pixie cut it.  Or do something totally dramatic like a Rihanna or Pink mohawk.  I have wavy hair that could be cute, but it's not cut right to have a wash and wear style right now.  I have a haircut scheduled for Monday, but it's not with my normal stylist because she's on maternity leave.  Anyone else want to whine with me?

I would love to pull off something like this, but growing it out would be a b*tch:

Maybe I need to do something with color.  Blah.

  • Lol, I just grew out of that stage. I cut my hair once every two years, and right around 9 months after the cut, I can't stand it! I wore my hair up for about a month. I would rather go crazy on color rather than cut, though, because you can always dye your hair back!

Once every two years?!  My hair would be to my knees if I let it grow that long!  LOL.  And I'd rather cut it for a change.  Hair grows back for free Stick out tongue

  • Lol. Mine only grows about 14-16 inches in 2 years. I cut it off and donate it.

Post pictures! I'd love to rock a mohawk, but my face is too round for that.

  • I know what you mean. I get bored with my hair a lot. I recently chopped it into a long pixie and am loving it! I barely have to do anything to it for it to look styled, which was definitely not the case when it was longer. Plus, by starting out with a long pixie, I've been able to go gradually shorter and have a different look each time I get it cut.

  • I don't hate my hair b/c a few months ago I bought hot rollers, so it's easy to make it look like I care. It's a little past my shoulders. Even in a pony, the added curls make it look more put-together. That being said, I am having issues with the color.  I started going gray as a teen and now at 32, it's really gray.  I have thought about going lighter, so that when the gray comes in it isn't as noticeable (my mom and all of her friends in their 60's and up now do this to hide the grays).  I tried this store bought stuff that is supposed to lighten your hair a few shades, so now it just looks off.  I am not sure what to do with it : / My hair grows fast, so it would cost an arm and a leg to get it professionally done.

The bolded part describes me perfectly. Right now mine is a long shoulder-length, so I can pull it up. And I do, every.single.day. I like Katie Bower's new hair cut and am thinking about that. I could still pull that back (maybe not all the way up) if I got lazy. My only fear is it will look like crap bc I have a 1.5 year old and am expecting baby 2 in July so I won't really have time to do anything with it... Sorry I'm no help, just wanted you to know you're not alone. Big Smile

  • Yes!  I was just having this conversation at work yesterday.  I've been highlighting my hair forever and I feel like my ends are bleach blonde and my roots are dirty blonde.  I want to make my highlights more natural, but not sure how to go from one to the other.

My hair is naturally curly, so I like to keep it shoulder length otherwise I look freaky when I wear it curly and with the humidity in the summer I wear it curly all the time.

It's just a really cute bob, but she had really long hair before, so it was kinds shocking.

In college, I had the Meg Ryan cut from You've Got Mail and LOVED it. It was so easy to maintain and I think you'd look good with it.

Haha.  My hair almost looks like what hers (bower) is now.  I have a more dramatic bang though.

  • This was me a few months ago. I had a bob that was just long enough to put into a ponytail. I got so sick of being lazy and my hair never really looked good like that so I chopped it all off. I got a long pixie like Ginnifer Goodwin and I really like it. I do have to style it everyday but it is super quick to do and it looks more put together than a ponytail.
  • Me! I feel like I've always had hair issues though. I never know what to do with it. Just a few weeks ago, I cut off about 12 or 13 inches.

Some times I do the "no heat curl" method, but on days that I don't, I think it looks really blah. Ugh. I need hair help.
