We need a new rug for our dining room. After living with Flor tiles, thinking the option to pull tiles out was nice, I realized we need something that is easier to clean. I've seen a few pretty rugs on Overstock that are indoor/outdoor. But I don't know what the quality or feel is and I don't want to spend a few hundred dollars on a rug I'm going to hate.
Anyone have a polypropylene rug? Care to share your thoughts/likes/dislikes about it? Or Overstock experiences? Good quality? Is it worth the risk without seeing it in person first?
Re: Overstock Rugs?
I wrote about my experience with Overstock here: http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/64231945.aspx. Overstock is OK, but I've had to send things back because I'm super picky about color and it's difficult to see true colors online.
In my experience, polypropylene rugs feel terrible and look like crap after being walked on for a few months. I'd rather buy something nice up front than have to keep replacing it, but other people prefer to change things up more often, so a more "disposable," cheaper rug will do. I guess it depends on what you want.
If I was in your situation, I'd just make sure to get dark colors. I've found that my wool rugs don't have any stains as long as I wipe up spills with a wet rag immediately, and my polypropylene rugs were covered in stains (at least the lighter parts) that never came out with any sort of washing. I've found that more expensive=more durable, not the other way 'round. When I went with cheap, even with light use, they looked bad quickly (but on the flip side, I didn't really care because they were so cheap).
the reviews are key on overstock for rugs. you can also find the same ones on other websites if you are diligent - then you can look up even more reviews.
the rug i got was wonderful quality - a safavieh (brand). it's wool, though, so i can't speak to the indoor/outdoor rug quality.
