Baby Shower - Diaper Cake
Hello D&R ladies,
I need your usual awesome help designing the best diaper cake ever. One of my best friends is having her first baby. We're throwing a shower in May.
* If you had a diaper cake at your shower/made one for someone, can you send me the link to the picture or PIP?
* If you made one yourself, can you send me the link to your resources you used. It's been a few years since I've dabbled around with this.
(P.S. I miss this darn board. Doing more work with less resources and it takes all my nesting time away. At least I have a job...but yada yada.)
Re: Baby Shower - Diaper Cake
There are lots of awesome diaper cakes on Etsy:

My friend just made one and she said she used a bottle of sparkling wine, Verdi, I think as the middle.

Those are way cute!
Here are some I have made. I think if you click on the pictures they will take you to my blog entries about them.
Hopey - I'm way impressed. Good job on those!
Air freshener is a good idea too. I don't have babies or anything, but the thought of stinky diapers makes that sound like a REALLY good thing! (Im sure I could incite a bump flame....pardon me...not a Mom.)
Miss you like crazy The Wop!!! I know!!!! I'm so working on it. Can't wait!
Here's one I made for my SIL a few years ago:
When I made diaper cakes I use a bottle of powder with a cheap bottle glued on top. I use a cake cardboard for the bottom.
I have made 2 diaper cakes - one with rolled diapers and one with unrolled diapers. As a recipient of a diaper cake myself, I can say that the unrolled diapers is much nicer on the mom when she wants to use the diapers. It is also not as hard as I thought it would be. I don't have a pic of the unrolled one (was in a hurry and forgot to take one), but here is a pic of the rolled one. I can't remember what I used as the center for the bottom layer on them, but the top and middle layer I didn't use anything but diapers. This one I actually used a combo of cloth diapers and disposable diapers, along with some wash cloths and burp rags since the mom wanted to attempt cloth diapering.
ETA: For the unrolled kind, I found that the easiest way to put the layers together is to use a cake pan or something with sides to help hold the diapers as you are adding them in and wrapping them around, especially if you are constructing it by yourself. Google it and you will find some instructions that show what I mean if you need a visual. Good luck and have fun with it!
These are all super good!!
You guys are pros with these. I'm super impressed.
