Any tips for painting front door?

How much paint will I need?

How long will I need to leave it open so that it doesn't stick, peel when closed?

Do most people use a flat or semigloss?

I'm doing a sage green & considering doing the inside too. TIA for your advice!!

Re: Any tips for painting front door?

  • I got a quart of paint and didn't use much of it at all. I would not recommend a flat paint. I treat the door like trim and only use semi-gloss. Also, make sure you get an outside paint.

When I painted my door, I started first thing in the morning and put a second coat on mid-morning and left the door open until maybe 6:00 or so. I touched it before I closed it and made sure it wasn't still tacky. Other people on here have left their doors open for longer.
