Open floorplan downstairs layout?

My downstairs wiill be Kitchen/Dining/Living in open floor plan...trying to decide layout for living room.  kitchen and dining are on left and living area on right

where do i want tv?  i have a HUGE empty wall but do i really want tv there?

does anyone have photos of their layout?

Re: Open floorplan downstairs layout?

  • That is hard to picture but i have a few questions-

    1. where does your seating work best? If possible, put the TV facing the seating. It probably shouldn't matter where the dining & kitchen are in relation to the TV, to me the seating arrangement in the room would be way more important.

    2. are you wall mounting the TV? If you don't have much in the way of walls that work with seating, that makes it easier.

    3. Is there a fireplace? That is usually the focal point of the room so if so I'd mount above it or just next to it so you can arrange seating accordingly.

Other thing to consider is windows/light- you don't want a ton of light reflecting onto the TV (so like facing it I guess? sort of depends on direction of the sun) so that is a consideration also.

  • This is our main floor (right after we moved, so its kind of empty, but its still essentially the same but 'filled in' a bit more), maybe you could put your tv up on the long wall and surround it with a picture gallery wall so its not the only thing on a wall?
