What to do for uncle who lost cat?
My husband's uncle's cat passed away this morning. She was his best friend -- and since he is not married, doesn't have kids, and doesn't have many friends really, she was in many ways his closest family too. I know he's incredibly devastated.
If this was a woman, I would send flowers. It is a little trickier because it is a 50-something year old man. Do you have any suggestions? My husband sent a fairly short "we're so sorry to hear of your loss"-type email, and we'll definitely follow up with a card, but if you have any ideas of something we can do beyond that, I'd be grateful.
Thanks so much!
Re: What to do for uncle who lost cat?
Maybe you can send him a nice note telling him how much you'll miss his cat -- maybe talk abut some funny/cute moments the cat had, or how beautiful his cat was.
That woud probably mean a lot to him.
For us, acknowledging the loss really meant a lot. There are a lot of people who don't look at pets like family.
You could also make a donation in memory of the cat to a local shelter (or wherever he got her). The shelter DH and I foster for has a section in each newsletter for people who donate in memory of a pet that has passed away.
5 cats. 1 baby.
Ditto Kaiene for the donation in memory of the cat. My vet did this for my cat when he passed in November and I was so touched. He died of cancer and she donated to a place that does research for pets. It's not the amount of money, it's the thought, so whatever is in your budget is great. The fact that people acknowledged my loss meant a lot to me.
Shelter donation is a great idea -- I don't know why I didn't think of that right away! I think his kitty was from the same place as our guys.
Thanks everyone!
