  • What does adjusted age mean?

And I agree that your kiddos are cute!

  • That is how old they would be if they had been born on their due date.  And thanks!

  • That's what I kinda guessed, and I don't mean this to be rude - it's simply out of curiosity - but why is an adjusted age important? Like, why did you put that in your siggy/keep track of it? Are babies generally more likely to act their adjusted age during development (i.e. learning to sit up, roll, crawl, etc.)? Do doctors take that into consideration for growth? andplusalso, when do you stop tracking their adjusted age? Once again, these aren't snarky comments at all. I'm totally just curious - I know twins generally are preemies most, if not all, of the time.

Visiting on this board because of the sh!tstorm that went viral, but wanted to respond to your questions. Short answer is yes, you're correct that considering adjusted age is important with regards milestones.

Also wanted to mention about preemies, while the average twin pregnancy lasts about 36 weeks full term twins are pretty common

  • Pretty much what PP said.  Yes, adjusted age is important when considering milestones.  Just wouldn't be accurate to expect them to magically not need the 2.5 months that they missed in the womb, so they'll walk/talk/eat etc later than what their actual age is.  Usually they are caught up around the age of 2.  Ours have fortunately been right on track for their adjusted age!

And there are a lot of twins moms that make it to term and frequently are induced.  The incidence of still birth in twins actually increases after 38 weeks.
