Itchiness?

I've noticed that since we brought the boys home that Dapper itches a lot. I thought maybe it was him just being dirty before I could bathe him but he still does it. I looked at his skin thoroughly and I don't see any redness or anything. He seems to itch his paws the most. Is this something I should be worried about? They eat Chicken Soup food and don't really get many treats. Thanks!

And a couple of new pictures Smile

Re: Itchiness?

  • Could be allergies to anything from his food to grass.  I might try his food in a different protein for starters and see if that helps.
  • My doggie went through this and here's what I learned. Vets first recommend checking her food to see if there are any ingredients that may be a typical allergen, I can't remember what those lists are, but you can google it. I think paw itchiness is a common indicator of this. But our issue was seasonal allergies, it started for us in about May and lasts well into the summer. She had scratched so much before I caught on (she was new, I had no idea lol) that she had rubbed sore spots on her ears. They did do a skin test and decided it was allergies. One vet told me that there isn't really a test for this, but that you can give benadryl and if it eases her discomfort then it's a success. Good luck!
