s/o Flying...I've always wondered

So, I get car sick--not all the time, but often enough, especially when I'm in a vehicle that's pretty low to the ground. However, I never get sick when I am the one driving.

I also get sick on small planes. I've always wondered if I wouldn't get sick if I were the one flying the small plane. Actually, maybe just sitting in the cockpit would make a difference.

I guess you'll just have to find out and let us know how it goes!

 

I also get car sick often and to avoid the possibility I often drive when DH and I go somewhere.

It probably would help! I was worried I might feel sick, but there were no bumps or anything.

I suppose if you're concentrating on driving/flying, you can't pay attention to whatever triggers the sickness... it'd be worth a shot!

That's what I was thinking, too.

You're distracted by driving.  Also, your mind and body are engaged and moving, so the sensation of movement while you're inert is minimized and your brain is connected on more levels than if you're sitting still.  There is also possibly a control issue involved; if you're the one flying/driving/steering you're in control and not a "helpless" passenger so there is no nervous/nausea trigger.
