I hired a housekeeper a few months ago. She is GREAT!
We agreed she would come for two hours each week. I told her that I wanted my 2 bathrooms cleaned, and then my floors vacuumed and mopped. If she had extra time, I would like dusting done and then of course general tidying up.
She easily accomplishes all that each week. She also does things like scrub down my table and chairs, vacuum out my couch, etc.
She said last week that now that she is familiar with my house and the routine, she is getting faster at it and asked if there was anything else I wanted her to do. Last week she scrubbed down a bunch of my baseboards.
I feel weird asking her to do really hard/icky tasks...but she wanted to know if I could give her some ideas of what she could do if she has extra time.
Any suggestions? I was thinking of asking her to windex my windows on the insides? Or clean out the cupboard that my garbage can is in, since it is always full of crumbs and smears.
Also, on asomewhat unrelated note...
Does anyone else feel like they suck at cleaning? I love having a housekeeper because I work about 50 hours a week and have a toddler and lately I have just been feeling like I am drowning in drudgery and always running behind. It has helped a lot, but I also had another reason for getting her.
I feel like I suck at cleaning. Like when I scrub something I feel like I am just pushing the dirt around and not getting it clean. I can clean something and go back later and almost always see spots I missed, or a smear. It's not that I don't like cleaning. I do..and I take my time and work hard at it. But I have noticed that for example if DH cleans the bathroom it looks sparkling clean and wonderful. If I do it, the next time I walk into the bathroom I don't get that "wow this room is really clean!" impression.
I can sweep a floor and 10 minutes later I am still stepping on stuff and it looks dirty. I used to think I was just crazy, or lazy. But this past year especially I have really started to realize that I just suck at cleaning. I never thought it was the sort of skill that you could not have...but i apparently am honestly truly a terrible cleaner.
Or maybe it just seems that way when you clean something yourself, just like when you cook dinner it doesn't taste as good as when someone else cooks it...?
Re: Cleaning
I feel the same way!!! Am I the only one with constant lint on the top of my toilet tank? I suck too.
Jealous of your cleaning lady! In my dreams. The next groupon I see for it is mine!

Fuzzy!
A) Stuff always looks cleaner when someone else does it! DUH!
You're right it's like dinner or a friend in an outfit you love and you try to imitate it later and it just comes out all wrong. I think we just see what else needs to be done rather than what's done so stuff still looks dirty.
