IKEA living room furniture?

..Anyone have any experiences?  How is the quality of the loveseats/chairs?  Looking for something somewhat casual for the family room attached  to the kitchen, and thinking about either the loveseat and chaise lounge or the loveseat and one or two chairs:

Not sure what color to go with...my three year old son would ruin the white real quick!  The room will be a soft blue/gray color.

I even like some of the other sectionals from IKEA, more than the expensive ones I have seen for the living room!

Re: IKEA living room furniture?

  • I have the ektorp sofa and got it about a month ago.  I'm happy with the comfort level but I do think it needs broken in a bit.  I have the white slipcover and bought an extra since they are so cheap.  (Plus it will be nice when washing to just put the other one on rather than waiting for the one being washed.)

I think it's a steal for the price.  I love the sectional option too but it just wouldn't work in our room.

Maybe the gray would work in your room?  I have 2 kids and 2 dogs but it's been pretty easy to spot clean.  Since my dogs sit on it I do keep a blanket on the seat and that's helped a lot.

  • We bought that sofa (loveseat with the chaise) about 2 weeks ago and love it. We got the white just because the price increase between white and a color is so ridiculous (I've died 2 other covers for the ektorp chair just fine so will probably do that eventually)

It's definitely a little firm, but you can tell once its broken in it will be fantastic (our chair is about 2 years old and soooo comfortable)

For the price I don't think you can beat it.

  • We love our extorp sofa and loveseat and we have a coffee table from Ikea that we also love! (And its nice that its all cheap enough we dont feel like we have to be super clean freaks to just hang out in the living room)
  • We have a HOVAS.  It's white, but I just take the slipcovers to the laundromat and bleach the hell out of them when we spill something.  We love it.
