New Bedroom set.....

We are getting our new bedroom set delivered tomorrow. I was wondering how much to tip the delivery guys, if at all? We are already paying for delivery.....

Re: New Bedroom set.....

  • For my bedroom set, I think I gave around $10 a piece (two guys). For DS nursery furniture, DH gave the guys $30 (two guys), but one of them put the crib together. (It was worth $50 to DH as long as he didn't have to do it-haha).

I would give $10 a guy since they don't see the profits from the delivery charge, and have to walk up stairs, possibly narrow openings, whatever.

I never understand this. It's their job to deliver furniture, so they do see the profits of the delivery charge.

I agree, this is their job. If their job was to put the furniture on your front porch and leave it, but they were nice enough to take it upstairs, I would tip. But it is their job to put the furniture in the room you ask them to.

  • The guys who delivered my mattress set last week went way above and beyond. They took my old bed apart and put the new frame together for me. I tipped them $30, and would have given more if I'd had more cash. So if someone does more then just drop the new stuff, I tip. If it is a drop and run job, nope.
  • We've never tipped on any of our furniture deliveries and we've bought quite a bit of furniture over the last few years.

  • Every delivery person that we have had in the past few years has refused a tip.
