DC hotels with a view

I'm trying to see if there are any DC hotels that have rooms with a nice view (Washington monument, etc)....I was thinking maybe somewhere across the river in Arlington/Rosslyn would?  I haven't had much look with my searches online, so I thought maybe you ladies would have suggestions.

Re: DC hotels with a view

  • I stayed at the Gaylord National Harbor in Maryland last spring. I really liked that area and all the places to walk to. You can take a boat taxi to VA and even bike there. Great restaurants and shops nearby.

  • Unless it's just a view that you want, I would have to completely disagree with National Harbor. It's not public transit accessible (I mean there is one metro bus that takes you to a station at the very end of the green line...I don't consider that very accessible). And it's full of mediocre chain restaurants. It's also quite far to the east so I'm not sure all hotels there would even afford you a view of anything but the WW Bridge.

Hotels in Rosslyn that have river views would be a much better bet if you want to do something other than sit in a hotel and visit a faux urban center.

Also I suspect the views from some rooms at the Mandarin Oriental are pretty spectacular if that is in your budget.

Yes, we were looking for more of a central location than the Harbor.  Any specific hotels in Rosslyn that can be recommended?  The Mandarin Oriental looks fabulous, but that is def out of our budget.

  • I have never stayed in a hotel here, so I can't offer much more specifics. I think you'd want to be on the eastish side of Rosslyn for views of the monuments. The further west you go you'll just have views of the river/Georgetown.

"Many rooms in our Rossyln, VA hotel offer incredible views of downtown Washington, DC or Georgetown"

Rosslyn would be your best bet to look into DC (Monuments etc)

  • You could also look into hotels on the north end of Crystal City/Pentagon City.  The Sheraton National might have a good view, too, but it's not the most Metro accessible hotel.
  • If you are willing to sacrifice the view of monuments, pick DuPont Circle (and the hotel at DuPont Circle), you will have the view of DuPont circle and the location is great, there is so much more to do after hours and it's a safe area.
  • The Hay Adams definitely has a nice view but it is pricey. Otherwise, there is a Hilton on Capital Hill that has a nice view of the Capitol. I would second looking in Crystal City or Rosslyn and I would avoid National Harbor too because it is not close to anything.
