I am having a hard time finding these. So far, I've found some at Burda, Kwik Sew, and Butterick. Simplicity, Vogue, and McCalls don't seem to have this section in their patterns so I wonder if I am missing something. I am looking at regular patterns with empire waist lines that could be turned into maternity, but would like a maternity pattern to know how to adjust a regular pattern.
Any suggestions? I am size 16 in regular clothes, so I'm the biggest in most patterns (22) without having to go into plus size. I am checking Made By Rae's blog, too. I prefer actual patterns over online tutorials but if it is a good tutorial I'll take a look.
With twins on the way, I am trying to save money as much as I can and cannot justify buying maternity clothes unless it is from Old Navy or a much needed item.
Thank you in advance!
Re: Maternity Sewing Patterns
Oh, twins! How exciting! Congrats!
I'm not having twins, but I'm trying to cut costs and avoid maternity clothes. They aren't that attractive and horribly expensive! So I've found a few sites
http://diymaternity.com/

Diy Maternity links to nicole neelson (Is that right?) and she has maternity patterns. Of course, they aren't cheap, but patterns never are, unless you can find a good sale!
I have a few separate links in my baby board on pinterest if you're interested in those too. Most everything is upcycling. I was given some mat clothes and I have some clothes that are too big for my husband that I'm giving new life to.
HTH! Good luck!
There are no good patterns. My kid is 8 weeks old and I busted my ass to find patterns. Vintage is your best bet and even those are terrible.
That being said, there are two blogs out there that kick ass. Lower Your Presser Foot features a woman who has adapted a ton of standard patterns for maternity wear. And they look beautiful. She's especially helpful if you work. Her posts explain how she did it too. You'll want to search the whole blog because this is her second child and she sewed for the first one a few years ago, too.
The other blog that will help you is Luvinthemommyhood. I think that's the name. She does a huge list of tutorials every year. There are at least two lists on her blog, I think 2010 and 2011. The tutorials also include handmade patterns on etsy as well as directions for how to turn regular jeans and pants into maternity wear.

Thank you all for the blogs... they do tell how to alter regular patterns to make into maternity, with pictures, too! I will look into all patterns now and see what I can find.
I'll try to post what I make as I go since everyone loves PIPs.
PAIF and SAIF welcome. IVF questions welcome, too.
