I am debating whether to do a gallery wall arrangement above a buffet table in our dining room or go for a simple mirror to fill the space. While I like the gallery wall idea, I worry it may make the space look too busy. On the flip side, I worry about the reflection of the mirror being distracting (especially to my four year old), but I like the idea that it would reflect light from an adjacent sliding door. It is a smaller space directly off of our kitchen and is our only eating space.
Do any of you have either of these options in your dining room? Would you care to share pics or pics you like? What would your preference be?
Re: Gallery wall in a dining room
I read your post and immediately thought of a TV show - The Good Wife. The main character has a gallery wall in her apartment's dining room. It looks like this...

I like it and it would prevent a wall from looking cluttered or too busy, like you are worried about, because all the images are uniformly spaced and they all have the same frames.
You could do this with family pics. I would use larger frames, though. I think that too many little ones would look busy.
