advice about kenneling

Hi- I lurk but have got great advice here before so I thought I would try again, I have a dog who gets really mad when he is inside the kennel and any other dog walks by it. Like he tries to fight through the kennel door. This is very easy to work around (he gets kenneled last and let out first and his kennel is in a separate room) but I don't know how to go about fixing the problem. Is this something I am going to need to get a behaviorist for? I hope this makes sense, and any advise would be appreciated.

Re: advice about kenneling

  • You may want to google crate agression. I wish I could help more. My new guy was quite crate agressive when he first came home but I just let him know it wasnt acceptable and he stopped (I fall more and more in love with him because of easy he makes things for me!) Good luck! Hopefully you find something that works and a behavoirist would absolutely be a great route for this I think.
  • I guess I'm confused. Why are other dogs walking by your dog's kennel?

  • Thank you I will look up crate aggression.

Closapio- I thought what I said might be confusing, I have 3 dogs and depending on the order that I kennel them some times he is in the kennel for a few minutes before I get the other ones in their respective kennels. does that make sense? This situation is harder to explain than I thought it would be.

  • I see.

If that is the case, until you get it figured out, and a behaviorist will probably be your best bet, putting him in his crate last will help keep him from hurting himself or you.
