1. Were you pretty techno-savvy when you started your blog? Did blogging force/ help you go be more savvy in this area? For the record, I am pretty ignorant in the world of anything techy. Twitter baffles me, I can't figure out the #things to save my life and in general I just struggle with this aspect.
But I want to write a blog that would *hopefully* be read by more than just my (Very nosy) mother in law.
2. When/ did you tell your husband you were writing a blog? For some reason< i'm super hesitant to tell mine. I have no idea why. I just am.
3. DId you make it public only after you'd published a bunch of posts or did you do it right from the get-go?
Thanks!
Re: Random question for bloggers
1. Not really. I can figure most basic things out, but I'm not really techie at all.
2. Right away. He does all of my photos, since he's way better at it, so it's kind of a joint venture.
3. From the get go.
I'm fine with techy stuff, generally speaking, but it's not like I am super knowledgeable about it or anything. If you're just using a basic blog platform, you really don't need to have much in the way of technical expertise. It's basically like typing a Word doc and pasting in pics.
I told my husband ASAP and he encouraged me. I didn't tell other people for a long time, I'm not sure how long honestly.
It was public from the get-go.
I'm not that tech savvy, I just did a lot of Googling and learned as I went along
My husband knew from the start and it was public from the start
Adventures in My Kitchen
I'm pretty tech savvy, and I know basic html. I figured a lot of stuff out by myself through trial and error too.
I don't remember when I told DH, probably right after I started it. He's not really tech savvy, so he wouldn't understand anything I tell him about it anyway.
It was public from the get go.
1. No, I am not very tech-savvy but I did learn some by doing my blog.
2. I told my husband right away.
3. The website was viewable by the public right away but I didn't tell anyone about it until I had a few recipes up and had figured out a bit more about the formatting
Hope this helps!
I'm not *that* tech savvy, but I've done pretty much everything by myself with a little coaching/support from DH. I actually learned (from DH) the very basics of coding from back in the old Knot/Nest days when I thought it was cool to have a really spiffy profile, complete with pictures, colored backgrounds, and borders. I wonder what ever happened to all of those profiles.... Lost in the world wide web I suppose.
DH knew before I started both my original and current blog. I said, "Hey, I think think I want to start a food blog." He said, "Cool. Does that mean I get to eat even more delicious food?"
It was technically public right from the start, but I only shared the link after some encouragement from another food blogger I was chatting with. Of course that was back in the day when food blogs were fairly new around here. My new/current blog I shared pretty much right away.

I don't have a degree in computer tech or anything, but I'm not illiterate either. Google has been able to answer any question I've had.

I told him before I started. There's no way to hide it - it becomes pretty obvious when he's standing there with his fork wanting to eat dinner but I'm saying "just one more pic!"
3. DId you make it public only after you'd published a bunch of posts or did you do it right from the get-go?
I had about three posts ready to go and published all at the same time. Then I was off.
Thanks!

I can figure things out pretty easily, and it definitely helped me beome more tech savvy. Google is very helpful, and so are other bloggers.

We had talked about it casually, but had a baby, got busy, nothing really came of it. I then decided to work on a site without telling him so I could surprise him. I was a little hesitant to show him, but super excited at the same time. He really couldn't be more supportive.
3. DId you make it public only after you'd published a bunch of posts or did you do it right from the get-go?
Public after the first post.

Kinda. I know the basics and the reason why I chose blogger over wordpress is because it looked easier to use. I finally got around to creating a facebook page for my blog not that long ago. Twitter still intimidates me but maybe I'll work on that this weekend.

I was kind of hesitant at first too because I thought he would think of it as an online diary, not a place for recipes. But I was taking a picture of a dessert I made one day and just said "I'm going to start a cooking blog".
3. DId you make it public only after you'd published a bunch of posts or did you do it right from the get-go?
It was public right away but it wasn't until recently I've put any effort into really promoting it and even now, I'm not doing everything I could be. I want the blog to be successful, but I'm worried if I start doing too much it may take the fun in it away from me.
Married / The Cookaholic Wife
Not very much at all, I've learned as I went along.

I dunno, as soon as I decided to start writing?
3. DId you make it public only after you'd published a bunch of posts or did you do it right from the get-go?
I believe I made it public on this board right away and I started sharing with other friends and family members soon after.1. Were you pretty techno-savvy when you started your blog? Yes, I was already blogging for work. I decided I wanted to be able to blog with a little bit more of my own voice, plus have a record of what I did if I ever left the company.
2. When/ did you tell your husband you were writing a blog? For some reason< i'm super hesitant to tell mine. I have no idea why. I just am.
I told him when I first started, and he contributes sometimes. But I totally understand the hesitancy.
3. DId you make it public only after you'd published a bunch of posts or did you do it right from the get-go? I was able to immediately schedule a whole bunch of posts because I already had a backlog from my work blog. But remember that it takes work to get people to come to your blog, so it's not like people will flooding it and saying "geez, she only has three or four posts."

Cooking with Crouton: A Food Blog
1. Were you pretty techno-savvy when you started your blog? Did blogging force/ help you go be more savvy in this area?
I'm not the most tech-savvy person around, but my cooking blog is my third or fourth blog -- it actually started as a general blog and evolved to what it is now, which revolves around cooking. But I'm still not likely to go out and code my own site or anything; I'd hire my brother to do that because I'm lazy and don't want to have to learn that much.
2. When/ did you tell your husband you were writing a blog? For some reason< i'm super hesitant to tell mine. I have no idea why. I just am.
I told him when it started moving toward being more food-oriented. He knew I had a blog but not the specifics.
3. DId you make it public only after you'd published a bunch of posts or did you do it right from the get-go?
My blog was never private, but it was a while before I began pimping it in any sense other than having it in my sig line on a couple of forums. I have a lot of other stuff going on right now, so I don't update much, which makes not having a huge following good these days -- no pressure because no one's waiting to see what I've cooked recently.
