Garmin 305 Forerunner for Dummies?

I am the proud owner of a new-to-me Garmin (thanks, Craigslist!). Unfortunately, I have NO idea how to use it. Lol. It's all charged up and rarin' to go...can someone point me to a good how-to site? Give me instructions? Or should I just download the manual (the seller didn't have it, unfortunately)?

  • I'd d/l the manual so you can figure out various settings.

If you bought it used it may alredy be set to record your mile splits, otherwise you have to set that - i don't know how right off the top of my head.

You can also set it for interval workouts. There are 3 screens that you can set according to your needs.

  • You should be able to find lots of good video tutorials on Youtube.com.

I learned how to do new things on mine that way (and I even have the instructions).

  • Yes, download the instruction manual. Set it up to auto lap every 1 mile if you want mile splits, and change the personal info (I forget what it is called) for your age, gender, and weight. Enjoy! It has many useful settings that you can customize to your liking.
