Oh no!!! How do I fix this?!

image

I walked up to my dog and I found him eating this!! (Can you see the destroyed curtain in the background? Same dog!)

I have no idea what to do.

    Zoomed in. Blaeghdkfjlsd!

  • You can cut off the damaged part and replace it with a patch.  DH had to do that for someone once.

On another note, it seems like your dog is anxious or bored....or both.  Sometimes upping the length/number of walks will help with that.  A tired dog is a happy dog.

He is. Both anxious and bored. I'm working on it....

Can we get this patch at home depot/lowes? What kind of saw do you use to cut it off?

  • OMG! Is your dog still a puppy? My furry one went through a chewing phase like that & used to chew whatever she could get her teeth on! She has destroyed leather shoes, wood heels, pens, socks and so many other things I can't even remember! I used to bring the item to her and scold her asking,"Is this yours? NO!!" "leave it!" Eventually she left my things alone but I did have to get her nylabone to satisfy her chewing need. Sorry about the window.. I have no idea how to fix that. Sorry I am no help. But please get your dog a flavored nylabone.

When DH patched the sill for a friend, he just cut off the damaged part and used a board the same thickness and same type of wood to make the patch.  I don't remember if he used biscuits or something else, along with glue, to  join the pieces, but once it was patched, sanded and stained, it wasn't noticeable.

  • He's about 13 months, so he's still in the puppy stage. I've only had him since he was about 6 months old, so we're still working on training.

He's got more than enough stuff to chew on... he just likes wood more than plastic.

    That's quite the assortment.lol

Look into puzzle toys.  You hide a treat/treats in the toy, and they have to figure out how to get it out.   Sometimes exercising their brains tires them out more than physical exercise.

  • Oh, man!  That sucks!  I've never used this myself, but saw it (maybe a different brand, not sure) being used on This Old House.  The results looked awesome, you couldn't even tell a difference once it was painted.  I know your wood isn't rotted, but it's the same concept.
