Do your curtains match across the front of your home?

If you have a bunch of windows across the front of your home, do the curtains all match at least in style and basic color?

DH wants to change up the curtains in his office but I told him not to since what he wants won't match the other front windows which are right next to them and it will look messy from the curb if they don't match.

Re: Do your curtains match across the front of your home?

  • No, but you can't see the curtains through the blinds.  All of the windows have matching 2" faux wood blinds, so that's all you see from the street.  We have 4 front windows (2 lower, 2 upper) and all are different rooms.
  • We just have shades, so they all match. I had curtains made for my kitchen (well, not that I have seen them 8 months later) and had her back them in white/cream so they would match whatever I eventually put in other rooms. Unfortunately I have random window sizes across the front of my house so they will never all be perfectly matched but enough as to not look messy. Is it the color or style you are worried about?

This is the situation at my house also.

  •  I have some combination of curtains/blinds (LR) and Roman shades (bedroom/ office) on the front windows of my house. So I guess the style is similiar but they're not the same.

That said other than Cube's room they've never all been down in the 6 years I've lived here (I don't think my LR blinds have ever been shut..lol). It's the perk of a hayfield and a little traveled gravel road out front. ;)

  • All our windows also have the 2" faux wood blinds and panels on either side of the windows. Other than that, they don't match in color at all. But you really can't tell from the curb. I'm a stickler for when curtains/blinds get opened in the morning, all blinds have to be at the same height. I know, i'm crazy.

We don't have a bunch of windows (three bay windows in the living room, 1 large window in the foyer), but the curtains in both rooms are all the same (neutral/goldish lace).  I like it better from the street that way.  We don't have shades or blinds, so you can see the curtains all the time.

  • I like for the windows to look the same from the street, so we have matching bamboo blinds on all of the windows that you can see from the street, but they don't all have matching curtains.

My mom always had lined curtains, so that even if the curtains aren't exactly the same, it still has the same overall look from the street.

  • We have 2" blinds in all of the windows so the window treatments are in not visible from the street.  However, I also line all my treatments in the same fabric so if they were visible, it would still be uniform (I line them to help prevent fabric fading, but the uniformity is an added bonus).

  • No. I can't say I've ever once noticed someone's curtains from the street, though.

  • Plantation shutters all match.  The fabric curtains can not be see from the outside.

I agree with you, it looks odd to see a house with different colored window tx from the street.

  • all of our curtains are lined, so even though they are different in each room, they look the same from the street.
  • Like others who have posted, I line all the fabric curtains so that from the street they appear uniform, but from the inside, they're all different.

  • NONE of mine match, and I have 7 forward facing windows. All the treatments are white, however, but for the stained glass door (which I guess doesn't count as number 7. So 6 windows :-)

  • We only have one window in front downstairs; that curtain is tan with thin, hard-to-notice white and red stripes. Upstairs we have three windows in front; they are covered with white wood shades.
