What color throw pillows

With this duvet in blue?

Sorry no clicky, on an iPad. The other colors in the room are white and gray. I was thinking maybe some yellow ikat?

Re: What color throw pillows

  • If you have those shams, I probably wouldn't do any throw pillows, especially not patterned.  I think it would look too busy.  I would use yellow accents other places.
  • I think it totally depends on the look you are going for. I could see a simple round white bolster, or even a fun pop of yellow or orange.
  • That duvet is so busy that you should really stick with pillows in similar colors, either solid or with a coordinating pattern. Yellow ikat would be way too much IMO

And just for curiosity's sake- you did notice that the duvet doesn't come in blue? That's teal, it's a terrible picture but the 3rd image is true to life.

Wow... that is a terrible representation of that greenish teal. If that darker color is the true color then that would also change my suggestion for a small pop of yellow or orange.

  • I'm usually a pillow person, but I feel like the ruffles are so busy that pillows would look like they are sitting on top of the bed, not integrated in, if that makes sense.  I wouldn't even put a throw on the bed.

They must have had a flood light on in the first two photos, because that last shot is seriously darker.

  • Sorry for the post and run, I got really busy yesterday after I posted and then got slammed at work.  I have the duvet and shams, and they are, indeed teal.  After reflection, I agree that the yellow ikat or any print would not work.  I just need *something* between the two shams because the bed looks kind of odd with nothing there except ruffles.  And, PP was right - my throw looks horrific with all the ruffles, so now I keep it off the bed.
