WDYT: Ombre, in a new place?

WDYT of ombre done on these staircases?
Re: WDYT: Ombre, in a new place?
NMS, but I like the look! I definitely think the average DIYer is not going to execute this well and it might be best to just look for it in magazine spreads, kwim?
Otherwise it gets a

They all look dirty and faded to me.
Like the steps haven't been touched since 1978 and I need to take a paintbrush and give them a shiny new coat of paint.
I love the old, faded feeling of it! In the right place (ie, not my suburban new build), it'd be a fantastic look.
But I agree with hippie that this could go very wrong when DIY'd by the average Pinner lol.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
It just looks faded to me, in a not-kept-up-seedy-old-hotel way. I don't mind the idea of ombre going up stairs, but none of those seem to hit the right mark to me. This banister does a better job I think.
