BB Creams: Korean Brands vs American Brands
I see a lot of people on here buying some of the new(er) American Brand BB creams (Clinique, Dior, Too Faced, Garnier, etc).
I tried the Too Faced one awhile ago, didn't really like it, went home and read some info online and basically read that the American BB creams are NOT like the Asian BB creams and really basically the same as tinted moisturizers.
So, I wound up buying a couple of the Korean brands online after some research (Skin79 and Missha) and I really love them.
So my question is this....has anyone tried both and what is your take on this? If you have only tried the American ones, are you interested in trying the Korean ones at all?
(The Too Faced one was not like the Korean brands I've tried, but that is the only one I can compare to. IMO, the Korean ones are unlike the American Tinted Moisturizers I have tried, or anything else for that matter.)

It is hard for me to explain. The Too Faced one really was more like a TM to me. It kind of sat "on" my face and felt heavier. The Korean ones I've tried are actually different from each other, but they all sink "into" the skin (at least mine)..instead of sitting "on" the skin..like most foundations. Also, the colors blend into my skin almost immediately and make my skin look flawless...even though the actual color of the bb cream isn't a match to my skin tone. I am actually pretty tan right now and all the BB creams I have (Korean) are pretty fair, but they still work. Also, despite the color difference and unlike tinted moisturizers and foundations, it is impossible for me to get a "line". The Korean bb creams are much less mask-like feeling to me.
If anyone else has tried them, please weigh in. I am very curious to hear how my experience compares to others who have tried them.
I am a BB cream virgin, but I really want to try the Korean BB creams first, mainly because I feel the available shades would work the best for me (since I'm Korean).
I plan on asking my hairstylist about BB cream the next time I see her (I go to a Korean hair salon and my stylist is drop dead gorgeous and looks like she's 20 years old when she's north of 35 y.o.).
Since I've never used any BB cream, I'm not qualified to answer the OP's question. But I've been researching online like crazy recently. Although the blemish balm is not new, per se (it was originated in Germany for patients who underwent laser skin surgery), Korea is where it was used for cosmetic/beauty purposes (as opposed to post-surgery purposes) first. Since Korea has been using it for a longer time than everywhere else in the world, I want to try a Korean brand first.

Oh! One more thing I will add that made me try the Korean ones...they are not that expensive! I found a seller on Amazon that ships from Korea and has authentic stuff and got 2 of them for $27 total.
I want to order from Amazon which seller did you use if you dont mind me asking. I want to make sure its coming from Korea and its authentic
I'm pretty cheap when it comes to cosmetics, but I splurged for the Clinique BB. I'm happy with it, but also had tried drugstore products first without luck. It's not a miracle product or anything, and I haven't tried any other BB, but it gives me the coverage I need in the light shade that I need with all of the skin healthy ingredients that I want. The only thing I'm not so sure about is that it contains a chemical sunscreen, but I'm undecided about if that even matters to me.

I was just coming here to start a thread about the two bb creams I tried this weekend. I got a sample of smashbox bb cream from sephora and the clinique one from the counter. I have never tried the Asian brands so I can't compare them to any of those.
However, neither the smashbox nor the Clinique bb creams are like any tinted moisturizer I've used. They both provided much better coverage and were mattifiying and covered pores more like a primer than foundation or tinted moisturizer. I don't have perfect skin and always apply foundation to even my face out, and I didn't feel the need to use any foundation over either of these bb creams.
I used them each two days, and I like the smashbox one better, and will be buying that one for sure. I have no desire to try any other brands first. This one did it all for me. I have oily skin and have been toying with using an oil absorbing moisturizer. I had a sample of the new clinique oil absorbing moisturizer I tried under my normal foundation, but the SB bb cream kept me matte much better than this.
I didn't put any type of moisturizer on first, nor did I put anything on top, and it was honestly the best I have looked. Both my hairdresser and my DH commented that my skin looked great. I didn't even conceal that morning because I was in such a hurry to make my hair appt that it was the perfect experiment.
