IF you have gold trim on your fine china do you also have gold flatware? Clicky Poll
Having a discussion with Dh about my "need" for vintage gold colored flatware to match my gold trim china[Poll]
Re: IF you have gold trim on your fine china do you also have gold flatware? Clicky Poll
I have an antique Lenox set, cream with gold trim. Gold colored silverware would be extreme overkill, and since I'm not Marie Antoinette it would not suit the decade (century) or our decor.
I think you're over thinking this one just a bit!

Maybe it is the pattern of your flatware that you don't like with it. It looks like the color of stainless would look nice with it.
I think it would look really pretty with a very simple pattern. I'm not really feeling the vine pattern idea. I think simple flatware would showcase the china nicely and wouldn't distract from it.
Not a fan of gilt flatware. IMHO, sterling goes well with everything. I use mine with my Lenox Holiday, my Royal Doulton Princeton (both gold trimmed) and my recently aquired vintage platimum rimmed china. Works well with my plain white Villeroy and Boch too.
Generally the rule for place settings is 2 plain and one fancy-or-1 plain and 2 fancy. Since your vintage pattern is sort of busy, maybe you would do well to select a vintage flatware to complement it. My aunt, who married in 1946, has a retro Oneida Community Stainless patten that would do nicely.
