Oh, duh!

Yesterday I had to get my medication...something changed with insurance and I had an almost $70 copay. With my Kansas trip in about a week, rent being paid, and regular living expenses, I just didn't really have an extra $70 this week. No big, I'll get it next or something.

Then I remembered that we have a flex spending account and I can use that to buy my medication. Duh! I'm still not used to having medical insurance and a flex spending account Confused

  • Glad you could get your meds on time, don't forget about that FSA!  I think in most cases you lose what you don't use for those things anyway.

Also, I hate when those forgotten expenses creep up like at the wrong time.

  • Yeah, you do lose it. We have $2,000 for the year and I've only spent $60 of it...most of my meds are cheap :)

I hate J's paycheck on the 25, because the vast majority of it goes towards rent. And my trip doesn't help right now. We're getting it evened out now for when he gets the check on the 10th, but we are STILL adjusting to living here!

Bahaha, does one EVER get completely adjusted to living in the golden sunshine state?  With all the differences in COL and such, I would think it would take a good while to settle in completely, so don't feel too badly.

Also, I think you can use the FSA for almost all health things even OTC stuff like bandaids, tylenol, and rubbing alcohol.  Can you not?    I am not sure if they are all like that, I am on a high deductible plan but opted not to do the FSA thing so I don't know all the rules.  I just heard someone here saying they stocked up on a bunch of OTC meds late last year to use up their funds.

I think you can...J's friend did...they had a ton of money leftover, and she went crazy trying to use it all up buying bandaids and stuff. I do need some Pepto, so I might try it today when I get my meds.
