This statement burns me up. George Zimmerman needs to find new friends, because his equally ignorant friends are not helping his cause.
Zimmerman's neighbor, Frank Taaffe, stated that if Travyon had just stated his business in the neighborhood then there wouldn't have been a problem on more than one occasion. Oh, but at least on the second video in the huffington post link, he says Zimmerman shouldn't have had a gun. I guess that makes him feel better. It's also on Roland Martin's site, along with some other Travyon Martin related videos.
Are you kidding me? Trayvon didn't need to answer a darn thing. He shouldn't have been followed in the first place.
Re: If only Travyon had answered appropriately...
What does he mean by "there wouldn't have been a problem on more than once occasion?" What other occasions is he talking about?
I assume he means Trayvon should have said, "yes suh."
Remind me again why Travyon was supposed to in any way, shape, or form supposed to be "stating his business" to Zimmerman?
Yeah. That's what I thought.
This is so bizarre to me. I have had strange men yell things out to me on the street..."hey lady, what's your name? where you going?" etc. I had no idea that it was OK to shoot me if I ignore them and keep walking.
I didn't word that right, what I meant was Taaffe stated that Trayvon should have answered Zimmeran in several interviews.
You forgot Massa
Right? I don't talk to random people who pull over to comment on my ass or who try to intimidate me for my choice of transportation. I don't respond to ridiculous comments from strangers that begin with the words "sexy" "baby" or "b*tch." But I guess I'm allowed to do that because I'm white. I definitely wouldn't tell someone following me in a car where I was headed!
I make it a point to not speak to people who follow me in their car. I like to think my paranoia keeps me alive.
Ah, I understand.
I'm assuming anything this guy says he knows about what Martin told Zimmerman is based on what Zimmerman told him, so that's a pretty unreliable source to begin with. Beyond that, from the the call between Martin and his girlfriend, didn't Martin ask Zimmerman why he was following him, and Zimmerman didn't answer? You know what I wouldn't do if someone was following me that was making me nervous and they asked what I was up to? Tell them I was walking back from someplace like a convenience store that probably means I had, and may still have, cash on me.
THIS...even a police officer would indentify himself before asking questions. I would never speak to some strange guy following me in the dark.
This would be an OK point if Zimmerman had been a cop.
But as much as he wishes he was, he wasn't and isn't. And random citizens do not have a right to question strangers on the street.
I fixed it for you.
I disagree. I have nothing to hide, but I'm sure as hell not going to answer a random person's questions to me if they walk up and start asking me what I'm doing or where I'm going. Zimmerman had no business asking him, and Travyon had no obligation to answer him. Period. End of story.
Yes. So this. What is this? Nazi Germany?
This this this.
You would have had more success with that bait on the Bump.
Again, this is the weird azz guy in a car following you. You really mean to sit here and tell me that if some strange guy who's been following you in a car gets out and approaches you, you are suddenly going to tell him "Oh, I'm just walking back to my dad's girlfriend's house." No, you are not. Zimmerman was a stranger. You don't know him from Adam. You are not going to carry on some conversation about what you are doing here.
We live in a society now where we teach our kids about stranger danger. I don't know if Zimmerman was some weirded out whackjob who likes to snatch boys up a'la Jeffery Dhamer style. I for dayum sure would not tell my child to give out information to some strange dude without a badge.
Exactly!! First of all, Trayvon didn't know if Zimmerman was a pedophile, or thinking about kidnapping him. Why should he answer anything? And how did he know that Zimmerman wouldn't follow him home? Anyone can say that they are neighborhood watch. Zimmerman's friends are stupid! In one case, a friend that he doesn't think Zimmerman pulled the trigger. Are you kidding me?!
It would be more reasonable to respond, but still not necessary. "Right to remain silent, anything you say or do can be held against you in a court of law" blah blah blah.
I still don't understand how Zimmerman is the one who's viewed as reasonable by his friend. As if it makes sense to just up and follow some random person, get out, follow, attack then shoot. Effing nonsense.
Zuma Zoom
Because Smo, white dudes in cars following you ARE not suspicious. Only black teen males.
HTH.
