Had a scare this weekend

Everything was a mess at my house because I was rearranging furniture this weekend, and my youngest dog Indiana managed to get into a pill bottle full of xanax. I freaked out and called the emergency vet who told me to call Animal Poison Control, and they said even though he had consumed about 15 pills, he should be ok. They asked me to check on his breathing every 30 minutes for 12 hours, and to make sure he didn't pass out.

He is crated most of the time, and I was arranging furniture because he did this to my house on Friday:

He's learned how to counter surf, and so I'm just confused as to what I can do. I don't want to crate him all the time. The thundershirt doesn't work for his anxiety.

This is where his crate used to be, but I moved it away from the curtain.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Re: Had a scare this weekend

  • I'm glad he was ok after the Xanax scare!

I'm confused about the other, though.  Was he crated when he chewed the window?

No, I just happened to run upstairs for a second. He's normally crated by the window (see pic two) so I moved his crate and bed to get him away from that area.

  • So are you asking what you can do about his general anxiety?  You might want to re-post under that title - several regular posters have dealt with that and should have good suggestions for you.
