So H shows me this house last night...

Kind of a cute house, in the neighborhood/area we want to move to. Foreclosure, so we'd get more house for our money.

4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full unfinished basement, about a mile and a half from my SIL's house.

And then I saw this...

It looks like they killed Elmo & Grover in there.

  • Haha. That's....interesting.  Are you still considering it despite the muppet murder room?

  • Sort of. It's on the higher end of our price range (but not maxed out), but the house is almost 1700 square feet with the unfinished basement. It needs some cosmetic work -- they converted one of the 4 bedrooms to a laundry room and it looks like the flooring was removed or ruined (which is no big deal, slap some flooring in there and I can make that my workroom/laundry room since we don't NEED a 4th bedroom), the living room has a full brick wall that looks like it belongs in a dungeon that I'd paint white and add a chunky stained wood mantel to, the only pictured bathroom looks a little 1980s and the kitchen cabinets are outdated, but both look livable for the time being.

Really, if we put some work into it (like renoing the kitchen and bathroom after we save up the money and finishing the basement eventually), it'd be a nice forever house for us. It's right across the street from the high school and middle school in the district so it'd be easy for us to get DS to school when he gets to that age.

We need to just get our house up on the market and get it sold, so I know this is wishful thinking. I'm hoping people will avoid it because it's a foreclosure and it's not "move in ready" so we can get some time to finish up our house.

  • Nice! Sounds like a great option, I hope your house moves fast.

Hopefully the nestie advice on my landscaping will help! :) The house looks pretty nice from the front, has a nice size back yard with a privacy fence and is in a fairly quiet area (now lol).
