Something nice that is a keepsake for the kiddo will do, too ---- nice charm for a baby girl (buy a charm bracelet to put it on - a first initial would be nice )...and an ID bracelet for a fella.
The kiddo can't wear it now, of course...b ut think of the sentimental gift it will be when the kid is old enough to understand his godmother gave him that gift. Even if he or she doesn't wear it, it's still sentimental --- and it wouldn't cost a lot, either. They have stainless steel ID bracelets for guys.
