Anything I can do about it? I have compression sleeves on right now, but they don't seem to be helping.

I will try- hard to do. I used to get shin splints ALL the time, but haven't in a while. They don't feel like shin splints. It hurts more when I flex my foot- more of a sharp pain- otherwise just a dull ache.
For shin tightness/aches/prevention:
1) Kneel with butt on heels and slowly lower heels to ground. Make sure weight is towards ball of foot and not heel. I usually have to hold on to something.
2) Sit on heels (not same position as 1) with feet flat against the floor, put hands behind butt and fingers towards heels and lean back slightly while raising knees off floor.
3) Foam roll your calves really well
4) Lean against wall with feet hip-width apart about 1 foot away from wall. Raise toes and hold for 15 count. Lower. Repeat. Also quickly raise/lower toes 15 times. Rest. Repeat.
