More Hunger Games "fan" whining.
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.
Re: More Hunger Games "fan" whining.
This one made me LOL.
It's fun to point out what was different, but people are getting ridiculous and regardless (like KC said) it was a pretty good movie and even better book.
Really? It makes me really sad.

I'm not laughing at the race issue itself, but that people are picking anything they can about the movie apart. I mean it says in the book "dark skinned".. so I don't get why they're upset. ::shrugs::
People just want to pick.
The reason why is because all those that read the book and went to watch the movie wanted it to be like the book. Those that just went to watch the movie are not have a problem with it.
And really if they have this much time to pick apart a book vs movie then they really need to rethink things.
In this case, like Marie said, it IS how the book was written though. So they're disappointed that she and Thresh were "black black", rather than acceptably dark skinned, like the actress from FNL.
I think that it all boils down to how one creates them in their head, one person could have thought black, another hispanic. Things are left of to the imagination. I think people need to realize that nothing is going to be excatly the same as the book.

::Eyeroll::
This is getting absurd.
I do not think this boils down to people being disappointed that Gale is hotter than Peeta because that's how they're pictured. This is racism.
I changed my name
this. Like in my last comment, people said that since she was black they no longer felt empathy for her, and those characters being black ruined the movie, stuff like that is not just "oh, I pictured them different."

Rue's death was heartbreaking but I'm not a racist so I actually felt compassion and sadness and actually cried during that part.
The actress did so well playing Rue! I loved it when they were trying to be normal and sit around eating frogs and Rue asked Katniss and Peeta liking her. It made me laugh.
People are absolutely sickening.
I haven't read the books or seen the movie, but it's on my to do list.
I saw the thread on PCE where people were tweeting about it. It is most definitely racism. I am so annoyed with the world.
That's awful...
Maybe these pigheaded people didn't realize that the Author worked with the director of the film. All those Characters were just right for what they were hoping to achieve... besides the kid who played Peeta, not what I was expecting but whatever.
IMO... that little girl played a perfect Rue. She was exactly what I pictured when I read the book.
sooo many things are lost on dumb people.

Those tweets were absolutely disgusting.
I still have to read the book, it's next on my list. I'm trying to get through the third book in the Girl with Dragon Tattoo series...I'm not really into it but my OCD is making me finish.
Yeah, I'm with you. That is straight racism, and I'm disgusted by some of the comments they made. I'll admit when I first saw the casting I was surprised she was black only because I missed that detail when I read the book. However it was pointed out to me that it said dark skinned in the book, and I remember reading it when I just read it again. I think both Rue and Thrush were cast perfectly. Cinna too, since that was brought up in the article too.
Ok I see now, I was thinking about it as book vs movie, like people were upset that it wasnt like the book.
I meant excatly like the book, like someone said before it says dark skinned and they were black in the movie. But after reading the link, I get what you all are saying.
