Why do I bother with college? (vent)
I seriously want to cry every time I think about school scheduling/my future. I have no hope for actually ever graduating.
Right now I take 5 classes. 4 classes worth 4 credits, 1 class worth 2 credits (and that's a 'Stress Management' class, ha!). 18 credits is the maximum allowed. 3 of my classes are online which is super convenient. I wouldn't say I'm struggling this semester, but I definitely am busy.
However, it seems like every semester from here on out I will not have the same type of schedule, and most likely will not have any more online classes. I am trying to keep some format (like Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays so I can find a Tuesday/Thursday job), but if it's MWF one semester, it will be T/Th the next, which initially means finding a new job. Plus, I don't know when the last time I worked a part-time job was. Or minimum wage.
I know college courses are basically designed for students that live on campus and have campus-jobs, and I'm not saying they shouldn't favor to that crowd, but what about the people that work 9-5 and want to get a degree? Oh, and because I work all day I do not have time to meet with an adviser (who is booked anyway).
This is a long and pointless vent. I have no idea what I want to do with my life, and I'm okay with that. The only reason I want a degree is I feel like it's important, and gives me a better chance at getting a job than someone who doesn't. But I just want to cry because I feel like I have to put other life-things on hold until I graduate (having kids, for example).

Have you tried looking at different colleges in your area?
I had the same issue when I first started (granted I'm only going part-time) but I looked around and there was a college that had a great night class schedule. It never hurts to look.
I'm sorry I don't have much more to say except I completely understand where you are coming from. It certainly isn't easy but if this is something you really want, go for it. The end results weather desired or unexpected will be worth it.
yes, this seems like the best option if you need to keep a full time job. Just break it in pieces and don't try to rush through it, you can only handle so much!
Really, you just need to calmly weigh out what you want and the pro's/con's of how to go about it. You can either drop back to working part time and/or on the weekends and go back to a full coursework on the schedule they offer to push thru in a couple years ~~ or you can find another online school or program that offers night/weekend classes and take longer to finish out the degree but be able to work and have full benefits along the way. Either way, I wouldn't give up your efforts on school if it's truly important for you to get that degree!
Good luck, I know it isn't easy. There's a reason not everyone goes to college and finishes! You can do it if you set up the right plan that is best for you, and nobody can really tell you which plan that is for certain, even the best advisors on campus.
The required classes are not offered at night or are limited (not enough for a full schedule). Right now I'm able to take 3 online classes and 2 night classes but in the future it will not be that 'easy'. damnrequiredcourses. and they also need approval. and have to be taken in a certain order.
I'm really determined to stay/finish here. It's my 4th college. After HS I moved away to a college for a semester but didn't enjoy the experience. My roommate from HS was either on the phone or on skype with her boyfriend every second - even if she was doing homework, he was on skype. My suitemates were flabbergasted that people our age were drinking in the dorms (the horror!). And as much as I tried to get involved, the only thing I enjoyed was walking to the soup kitchen 2 miles away on MWF and volunteering. So I left after I finished the semester.
Joined the Army for a semester-ish but broke my back. Went to community college for a couple semesters to take basic classes that could be transferred. Went to a private college that has smaller class sizes (I prefer a class of 30 to a class of 200) for a semester. Went back to the community college. Volunteered in TX for a semester. Went back to the community college. And then started at this university last semester. It's the closest one to where we live, and my parents both graduated from there so they "approve".
Sooooo... basically while 'almost' everyone else I graduated high school with is graduating college in a month, I still have at least 2 - 2.5 years left. I love all the experiences I've had, and I don't regret the choices I've made, but I finally want to go to school and finish what I start.
BNOTBers are my academic counselors because my school counselors are generally only available 10AM - 4PM, which is when I work, and they're usually all booked up anyway. Plus, despite numerous e-mails to numerous individuals, "they are not allow to counsel via e-mail". So, no help on that front.
I've sought out (is that the correct phrase?) positions before but generally the "good" paying jobs require experience. I was a hostess 5 years ago... so that doesn't really help me.
